Step1: Set up and build your Youtube channel

Before you can make any money, you first need to set up and build your channel. Consider your channel as your personal representative. Creating a channel is not difficult, it is similar to opening a Google account. By creating this account, you will be granted access to other products by Google, such as Drive and Gmail.

If you already have an existing account, then there is no need to create another one. Add keywords to help users find your channel easily. To add keywords, go to Channel Settings and then Advanced section. Remember that the keywords you choose should be relevant to your content.

Be sure to come up with an original, short, and easy to remember username that people will be able to remember easily. Choosing a hard one will work against you. Do not despair if you already have an existing account as you can always change your username. You can do this by editing it on your Google+ account.

Step 2: Add content

Upload relatively short content and that is of high-quality. However, this varies depending on the type of content you decide to upload. To gain and sustain your subscriber base, upload content regularly and be consistent with them.

It doesn’t matter if your content is great or not at first, just keep on doing it. The more you upload them, the more experience you gain. Also, ensure that the content you upload today is better than the one you did yesterday. You will pick up some skills as you go on.

Also, you should improve the quality of the content you upload. You can do this by trying a better editing technique or software or using a better camera. Try out new filming techniques to spice up your videos too. You can add lighting to your scenes, enlist the help of your friend, or even use a tripod among other things. The goal here is to come up with a better end product that will attract a bigger and better audience.

Remember to upload content to your channel regularly. This will help you to hold an audience. If you do this regularly and maintain that schedule as much as possible, more people are likely to subscribe to your channel.

You should also come up with keywords that describe the content and tag them with your video. Do not forget to add an eye-catching description. More people will be driven to your video when they search similar keywords.

Step 3: Gain an audience

The only way you will get to make good money on YouTube is by building an audience. The more people who will watch your ads, the more money you will earn. The only way you can build your subscriber base is to create the best content and upload them.

Upload interesting content as this is more likely to get people hooked. Share the links to these videos on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and also with people. Share it on any other platform on the Internet that you can.

Also, be social as this makes your viewers feel closer to you and appreciated. Respond to their comments and create occasional videos directly related to their questions and comments. Interacting with them will help add more subscribers to your base.

Step 4: Monetize your videos

To start making cash from your YouTube channel, you will need to enable monetization. Enabling monetization simply means that you have allowed YouTube to place ads in your video. Your video should not have any copyrighted material as it is against the terms of service. To monetize your videos:

– Visit youtube.com, then on the webpage, click on My Channel.

– On the top bar, you will see a link called Video Manager, click on it.

– Click on Channel then Enable on monetization.

You are also required to have at least 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours watch time to start making money out of your channel.

There is an option whereby you can monetize a video by clicking on Monetization and then checking the box marked Monetization with Ads.

You can also monetize a video after it has been already uploaded. Click on Video Manager, you will see a “$” sign next to the video and check the box marked Monetize with Ads.

Step 5: Set up Google AdSense

Google AdSense is free and you can set it up by visiting its website. You will have to sign up first to create an account by clicking on the Sign Up Now button. AdSense requires you to be 18 years or older to create an account. If you are below this age, you will need an adult to assist you.

You need to provide a valid mailing address, and a bank account or PayPal account address together with other bits of information so that AdSense can verify if you are who you say you are and also for payment purposes. A huge chunk of your earnings will come from the number of ad clicks and a smaller amount from the number of views. The higher the number of subscribers you have, the higher the probability of making more money.

Step 6: Check your analytics

By now, you have already posted a number of videos on your channel, have had them monetized, and people are viewing them, it is time to start checking out their analytics. Their analytics will give you insight into how they are performing. Go to the Channel menu and click on Analytics. Here you can view demographics, video views, ad performance, estimated earnings, and so much more.

Step 7: Market your Youtube videos elsewhere

Use other platforms such a blog, website or social media to market your videos. This increases their chance of getting noticed.
